I love the idea of the island. It makes me wonder about the difference of effect between people born before the internet (who did a good bit of evolving outside of it) and those who have never known life without it (who truly evolved in the closed ecosystem). Feels like there’s a longitudinal study in there somewhere.

I also totally agree with the double-edged nature of anonymity. It enables a lot. I think it circles back to what you talked about in your piece on social media addiction, there is always a push and pull. I think it applies to the inner workings of the internet itself and society’s relationship with it at large. As you said, ultimately it comes down how much of the push are we willing to accept.
